The “Shreemati Rama Mehta Charitable Trust” was set up on 30th August 1980, by her husband Shri Jagat S Mehta, along with six other founder trustees. The Trust is small and has been built over the years through contributions made by family members and the royalties that come from the sale of Rama Mehta’s books and the sale of Jagat Mehta’s books. During the last four decades, the Trust has chiefly focused on supporting women in difficult circumstances and providing educational assistance to the needy. In its 40th year, the Trust decided to do something that was closer to Rama Mehta’s life as a writer. Hence, in 2020, the Rama Mehta Writing Grants were rolled out, with the first set of winners being declared on 23rd September 2021. This is the second year of writing grants. The writing grant is open to any woman who has a connection with Rajasthan, either by birth or marriage or education or career. The awards are given for a short story written in Hindi, Rajasthani, Urdu or English. The theme for the short story is announced by the Trust every year in November, and entries are accepted for the next 5 months (till 31st March). The writing grant seeks to identify upcoming writers and not merely pick established ones. The Writing Grants have an independent jury comprising eminent authors in each of the four languages. It is also guided by an Advisory Body consisting of Ira Pande, Rakhshanda Jalil and Annie Zaidi.

श्री मती रमा मेहता चैरि टेबल ट्रस्ट श्री मती रमा मेहता चैरि टेबल ट्रस्ट की स्था पना 30 अगस्त 1980 को उनके पति श्री जगत एस मेहता एवं छह अन्य संस्था पक न्या सि यों द्वा रा की गई थी । यह एक छो टा सा ट्रस्ट हैं।हैं वि गत वर्षों में परि वा र के सदस्यों द्वा रा कि ए यो गदा न एवं श्री मती रमा मेहता एवं श्री जगत मेहता की पुस्तकों की बि क्री से प्रा प्त रा यल्टी के मा ध्यम से ट्रस्ट का र्य कर रहा है। गत चा र दशकों में ट्रस्ट का का र्य मुख्यतः वि शम परि स्थि ति यों से जूझ रही महि ला ओं तथा जरूरतमंदों को सहा यता प्रदा न करने पर केंद्रि त रहा है। अपने चा ली सवें वर्ष (2020) में, ट्रस्ट ने रमा मेहता लेखन अनुदा न की शुरूआत की । यह वि षय एक लेखक के रूप में रमा मेहता के जी वन के बहुत करी ब था । तदनुसा र, 23 सि तम्बर 2021 को अनुदा न से पुरस्कृत हो ने वा ली चा र लेखि का ओं की घो षणा की गई। वर्तमा न वर्ष इस अनुदा न का द्वि ती य वर्ष है। लेखन अनुदा न ऐसी महि ला ओं के लि ए है जि नका संबंध रा जस्था न से हो - यह संबंध जन्म, वि वा ह, शि क्षा या करि यर के द्वा रा हो सकता है।है पुरस्का र हि न्दी , रा जस्था नी , उर्दू या अंग्रेजी में लि खी गई लघु कथा के लि ए दि ये जा ते है। हर सा ल नवम्बर में ट्रस्ट द्वा रा लघुकथा की थी म की घो षणा की जा ती है। इसके बा द अगले 5 मही नों (31 मा र्च) तक प्रवि ष्टि यां स्वी का र की जा ती है। यह लेखन अनुदा न मा त्र स्था पि त लेखि का ओं को चुनने की जगह उभरती लेखि का ओं को पहचा नना चा हता है। लेखन अनुदा न के अंतर्गत लेखि का ओं का चयन एक स्वंतत्र नि र्णा यक मंडल द्वा रा कि या जा ता है। नि र्णा यक मंडल में चा रों भा षा ओं के प्रबृद्ध लेखक शा मि ल हैं। लेखन अनुदा न के पूरे का म को एक सला हका र समि ति के मा र्गदर्शन में कि या जा ता है - इसमे इरा पां डे, रक्षंदा जली ल तथा एनी ज़ेदी हैं।
